Past - Present - Future: Youth Art Show
Opening Reception: Saturday, July 4, 2026, 12-3 PM
at the annual 4th of July Picnic
Location: Broad Brook Community Center, 3940 Guilford Center Road, Guilford, VT
Admission: Free and open to the public
Local children and families are invited to take part in a special community art exhibit celebrating our nation's 250th anniversary at the Broad Brook Community Center this summer!
The new art show entitled "Past - Present - Future" will open at the BBCC on the 4th of July, at our annual 4th of July Picnic. The show will explore our area as it once was, as it is today, and as we imagine it 250 years from now, and we invite young artists to help bring this vision to life.
Children and teens are encouraged to submit up to 3 pieces of individual artwork inspired by one of the three themes:
Past: What did Vermont look like back in 1776?
Present: What do you see and love about Vermont today?
Future: What do you hope Guilford, Vermont, and the world will be like in 250 years - in 2276!?
All forms of creativity are welcome, including painting, drawing, photography, collage, and mixed media. This is a chance for young people to celebrate their history, share their ideas, and be part of a meaningful community milestone. Artwork can be dropped off at the BBCC on the afternoon of June 13th or June 27th.
Past - Present - Future: Community Banner Making!
Open to all ages!
June 13th from 1-5 pm
June 27th from 1-5 pm
Location: Broad Brook Community Center, 3940 Guilford Center Road, Guilford, VT
Admission: Free and open to the public
In addition to individual submissions from our young neighbors, community members of all ages are invited to participate in a collaborative community art project, which will go on display as part of the show.
During special sessions from 1-5 pm on June 13th and June 27th, with the help of local artists Joan Peters, Susan Bonthron, and Uriel Najera, we will create three large mixed-media banners, one for the past, one for the present, and one for the future.
Each participant will have the opportunity to collage their own creative piece to these shared works or add directly to the painted banners, helping to build a collective vision across generations.
At the banner-making sessions, there will also be supplies available for kids who'd like to create their art show entry during that time as well.
If you, or your child, are interested in participating in the art show or banner making, please email Ada Brown at broadbrookcc@gmail.com so we can plan for the correct amount of supplies.
Thanks for taking part!
