Join us for the opening of our newest Art Show: Guilford Vistas & Vignettes on Sunday February 25th at 1pm!
Talented local photographers Steve Soszynski and Paula Marks are sharing their beautiful photographs of the Guilford landscape with us for the next two months. Steve and Paula see their photos as a love letter to this place and community.
Stop by the opening on February 25th at 1pm to meet the artists and see the lovely ways they've captured our towns beauty in every season. Their photos will be on display from February 25th - April 27th. If you can’t make it to the opening, come by and take a look next time you’re at an event at the Broad Brook Community Center. All photos on the wall are available for purchase.
About the Artists
Paula Marks moved to Guilford three years ago, having fallen in love with the natural beauty of the Brattleboro area in previous visits. All her photos are taken with an iPhone 13 Pro, in her words, “each season and shift of the light offers opportunities galore.” Though her background is primarily in writing, she was fortunate to do some museum exhibit work and to direct a university program that included the visual arts and students working in them. Those students in their creative energies taught and inspired her in her own creative endeavors. Paula relishes the warm community she has found in Guilford, and is active in the Guilford Historical Society and the Guilford Community Church. She takes immense pleasure in walking Guilford’s dirt roads and taking photos of the remarkable and the “ordinary” on those long walks which has led to this exhibit.
Steve Soszynski has lived in the old Ashworth house on the Center Road for almost 32 seasons. He is always working on something around his property, and while he tinkers, he snaps photos of things that catch his eye. All but one of his photographs were taken on his own property. The frames are made from ash and birch harvested from his forest. As with Paula, he has found the goodness in the people of Guilford, and the beauty of our landscape inspiring.
