Join Neighborhood Roots Food Collective for a day of group kimchi making! Bring home a jar of your own, the recipe, and instructions to make this a family favorite! Come and learn the art of making traditional kimchi as part of the NRFC summer workshop series. On August 3rd from 10-11am at the Broad Brook community Center join Inusk Durham as she guides us in preparing a batch of kimchi. Kimchi is a traditional Korean side dish made from fermented, spiced vegetables.
Insuk Durham has been making and eating kimchi her whole life. She was never taught and the recipe just comes from growing up making it with her mother, grandmother and all the women in her neighborhood in Jeonju, South Korea. They would all get together every autumn for “Kimjang,” a communal kimchi making gathering.
All ingredients will be provided at the workshop and participants will be able to learn and help making the kimchi. Everyone will go home with an 8 oz jar of kimchi. This workshop is limited to 15 people with a suggested donation of $15, though no one is turned away.
