“On April 8, 2024, the Moon aligns perfectly with the Sun, creating a total solar eclipse in its shadow. The path of the eclipse runs from the equatorial Pacific through Mexico then slides from Texas to Vermont, and east to Newfoundland. During the eclipse, the Moon completely blocks the Sun, lasting from a few seconds, to as long as 4 minutes and 28 seconds. This event is the only total solar eclipse to travel across Mexico, the United States, and Canada during the 21st century.” - Fairbanks Museum
To mark this momentous event the Guilford Free Library will be hosting a viewing party! We hope this will be outside, but if the weather turns the party will move next door to the Broad Brook Community Center. Keep an eye on on our social media for updates!
